One month after the Fukushima earthquake in 2011, while many artists were cancelling performances, Placido Domingo came to the area and did a concert with a lovely soprano (I lost the name). One of the songs was this “enka” (popular music genre with traditional roots) song about Home. It got the audience and the soprano to tear up and of course yours truly. I have set the start at 4:00 minutes, when Domingo explains his visit and announces the song. The audience was very moved as were the performers onstage.
I saw this on YouTube in an excellent video from NHK shortly after the concert. But apparently for copyright reasons, it was immediately removed, with the only remaining versions videoed from television with horrible view-ability and sonics. This video is nearly equal in quality to the NHK video.
