This Chris Rufo article alarms as much as it enlightens. Chris describes how the National Institute of Health (NIH) has been exposed to the very unscientific DEI ideology (Cost Benefit Analysis would have ended this before it began). The exposure has made NIH a host to worthless cost exposure falling more than a standard deviation outside its medical mission. Removal will require no mean effort to extricate from the NIH, a diseased body politic.
And, the kind of effort needed to uproot such an infection in the federal government will be a Herculean task that will be challenged at every turn by those firmly entrenched in reaping its rewards of vendors, salary, tenure, etc.
I doubt Harris will be the one to change it, as this infection flourished under the Biden administration, and Harris has been unable to find fault with any of Biden’s policies. For the NIH, the Hippocratic Oath has become a Hypocritic one.
Let us pray that the NIH can be rid of its disease to return to a healthier view of its organizational mission, and wiser use of the taxpayer dollars that fund it.
